Comments on "Nissan LEAF Test Drive"
Since I made that ... Since I made that comment a year ago my view on the Volt and Prius have totally changed. I respect that they are all exceptional cars in their own way. Let's be honest, the Prius was it's own little revolution back in 05' and 06.' And the Volt is the future? of Hybrids. So I apologize for what I said back then, I was close minded. :)
Prius, Leaf and ... Prius, Leaf and Volt are all great cars. No reason to hate on volt because you are a leaf fan. Volt is great for people who need extended range. Leaf is better for people who live in the cities and don't need extended rance. Prius plug in will out sell Leaf and Volt combined because it has a bigger dealer network and lot of prius customers love their prius. Toyota? reliabilty record is lot better than Honda and ford. Nissan and gm have no long term data.
Yes you are right ... Yes you are right there is a link between the engine and the wheels, but they only engage when the car? is going faster than 65 mph
There is still a ... There is still a mechanical linkage between the genset and? the drive wheels, so Volt is technically a battery dominant parallel hybrid with a 35 mile range. The Prius is also a parallel hybrid, but it's gas dominant. The Volt concept was in fact a series hybrid (pure electric, no mechanical linkage), but that's not what the production Volt is.
Still, it's a very technologically advanced piece of engineering. But it's not what I want. Pure electric LEAF is what's best for me. :)
It sounds as if hes ... It sounds as if hes riding the? wind lol
wow its so Ironic ... wow its so Ironic that the Founder? of Volt is Test Driving the Nissan Leaf LOL
this car is good? ... this car is good? for New York's air definitely
Hey!!! you are ... Hey!!! you are idiot!!! The leaf has a 60km range! It may be electric but i prefer burning a little bit of? fuel than be stuck cuz the battery is down...
no the Volt is not ... no the Volt is not a? hybrids, it is capable of running on 100% electricity for 45 miles and then uses gas, so the correct term is: full speed electric vehicle with extended range. =)
i can see 3nd gen ... i can see 3nd gen prius use as? taxi for long travel if people need go anywhere like movie, sport, and many more.
uhh the truth is ... uhh the truth is the Volt is hybrid because it use electric motor more than gas for long trip i know because i told someone in my school?
is anthony weiner ... is anthony weiner test? driving
- That's the ... - That's the purpose of the Volt. But if you have the money to purchase both a Leaf and a gas car, then why? not...
I dont know, I live ... I dont know, I live in California and thanks? to all the tax credits from the FEDs (7,5000) and California Credit (5,000) the leaf is a great option! I make about 40 miles everyday and has seating for 5!!!!!
The volt is great and I could use to drive on battery and gas, that is a great option. Both cars are great! The volt has the disadvantage of being too pricy for me. the leaf is 33K - 7500 - 5000 - trade in value and I can get myself high breking technology for about 17 of thousands.
DAMN new york? ... DAMN new york? traffic is f**king HORRIBLE damn cars everywhere
@mrthedirtytruth
... @mrthedirtytruth
That is why we have regenerative braking which actually puts energy back into the battery. ? Also you would not want it braking or losing speed all the time. Like the volt you can put it in mountain mode and it will constantly lose speed which is worth it when you are in mountains but you would not want that in everyday driving
The leaf is so much ... The leaf is so much better, for regular commuting it is perfect, and its 100mile range is more than enough. The volt's 35 mile range on electricity is too little. And it costs too much, the leaf is $10000 cheaper. For longer trips it would be cheaper to rent a car, buy a cheap small one, or keep your old one. It suits most peoples lives as the primary car for? everyday driving.
@mrthedirtytruth ... @mrthedirtytruth the energy it'll take to harness the wheels is more than the? energy that comes out
Why didnt they just ... Why didnt they just make a? manual drive leaf. Wouldnt that save more battery power instead of using a automatic.
Wonder, no more!
... Wonder, no more!
The charging station is a $2,000 deal, instalation included.
It takes about $2.75 to fully charge the Leaf
There is an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty on the batteries, so those are covered.
In the end, the average US citizen spends about $1,844.18 on gas a year. The Leaf has an EPA estimate of $535 a year for electric travel. The first year, the gas car wins? because of the $2,000 Leaf charge station, after that the electric car proves to be more wallet friendly.
Such a cool car! ... Such a cool car! Wouldn't mind having one just for the fun of it! I mean, if your doing city driving, this is definitley an option. Can't wait till? we get to see these in South Africa.
I wonder how good ... I wonder how good getting the Nissan leaf would be on mathematical terms against getting a gas car. After buying the car, paying for the charging station and installation, the higher electric bill, and electric engine maintenance. How long would it be to come out on top of just buying a gas car, filling the tank and changing the? oil?
There's always the ... There's always the 26min FastCharge.?
Think, whats a car? ... Think, whats a car? Two steps from being a go cart and you want to get to a hospital lots of times or any small emergency for any reason, and you get many other options with GM Votls Just do more research and old car show enthusiasts will tell you of higher resale value and the Volt is not two car driveway minded this is? the on car you need to go and go across the whole country as it recharges it self, no cords needed : ) as pointed out but long way from snow chains most need for rediness,ah ha!
i'm a leaf fan, but ... i'm a leaf fan, but it seems to get the 100mile you need to drive like a? grandma. and the 9hour for a full charge... can't use it out of city streets
I had a chance to ... I had a chance to drive one of these as well - very smooth. Would like? to win one, please check out my leaf video and vote!
Congrats!? Congrats!?
I commend GM? for ... I commend GM? for posting a video about a non-GM vehicle!
Hands down the? ... Hands down the? LEAF is the winner.
